Valerie is a nationally certified Physician Assistant with 17 years of healthcare experience, nearly 10 of which have been in psychiatry. After graduating high school in Sistersville, West Virginia, she went on to receive a bachelor degree from Alderson-Broaddus in Psychology. Soon after, she moved to Beckley, West Virginia to pursue a Physician Assistant Studied degree from Mountain State University. As a student, she was awarded a National Health Service Corps scholarship for her interest in, and commitment to, serving rural and underserved areas. Her formal psychiatry training was done at US Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. She previously practiced seven years at a private outpatient psychiatry office as well as three years at many community mental health clinics in West Virginia.
Valerie’s professional interests include child and adolescent psychiatry, addiction medicine, and telepsychiatry. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors gardening, fishing, and hiking, and supporting her children’s sport teams. She is currently accepting new patients.
