MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

Our staff of board-certified psychiatric providers assess current prescription medication use and adherence in a non-judgmental way to help patients overcome the challenges of being on medications. Following the most current guidelines, we use evidence-based methods to tailor a treatment plan for each individual patient. Psychotherapy and non-medication, alternative options are often incorporated in this plan. We strive to educate our patients and guide them through the treatment process in order to increase adherence and minimize potential risks and side effects.

LGBTQ

Although same-sex attraction, bisexual attraction and gender identity are not diseases or mental disorders that need treatment, the LGBTQ community often seeks support in learning how to manage their sexuality and gender identities, along with overcoming social discrimination and preconceptions. We provide an accepting, safe and supportive environment with treatment tailored to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, and their family members. We recognize the unique treatment needs of our LGBTQ patients and strive to help them celebrate and live fully in their authentic selves.

FAMILY COUNSELING

Family Counseling seeks to reduce conflict and distress by improving the systems of interactions between individual family members. Even the best families can sometimes feel a need for outside help and can benefit from examining relationship dynamics in the home as well as learning healthy ways to better communicate. Professional treatment can be especially beneficial to families going through a separation or divorce, dealing with discipline issues in children, experiencing parenting challenges in adolescents, caring for a family member with special needs, or going through a tough time in general.

MARRIAGE/COUPLES COUNSELING

Couples Counseling aims to improve romantic relationships and resolve interpersonal conflicts by helping couples with emotional, behavioral and mental issues that recur throughout the relationship. Couples of all types can benefit from learning how to communicate better with their significant other, discovering individual triggers, and learning how to improve their relationship while looking inwardly at their own strengths and weaknesses. Issues including sexual discontent, frequent disagreements, unresolved conflicts and loss of interest can be effectively managed with therapy.

CHILD/ADOLESCENT THERAPY

Our specialists offer a variety of techniques and methods to help children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties with their behavior or emotions. Children and teens receive emotional support, learn how to resolve conflicts with people, understand feelings and problems and try out new solutions to existing problems. We emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and treatment for those children and adolescents struggling with more severe mental health conditions, including ADHD/ADD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral problems and learning differences such as autism.

ANXIETY DISORDERS

Anxiety Disorders are the most common mental health concerns in the United States and are typically characterized by feelings of persistent, excessive fear or worry, dissociative anxiety, and physical symptoms such as trembling, heart palpitations and panic. The most common type of Anxiety Disorder, called Generalized Anxiety Disorder, is characterized by anxiety unrelated to any specific circumstance or object, producing symptoms seemingly at random. Treatment often includes a combination of psychotherapy and medications and may include cognitive behavioral therapy or deep brain stimulation.

DEPRESSION

Depression is very common and is characterized by persistent sadness, hopelessness, personal emptiness and loss of interest in activities. Depression symptoms cause a significant impairment in daily life and may include changes in sleep, appetite, energy level, concentration or self-esteem, and can also lead to suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Our psychiatric professionals help patients better understand that they are not being judged for their feelings and that no amount of willpower or positive thinking can heal depression. Treatment includes medication, talk therapy, or most commonly, a combination of the two.

ADD & ADHD

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are chronic conditions (collectively known as AD/HD) that cause patients to become easily distracted or unable to focus for extended periods of time. Those with ADHD also suffer from hyperactivity. including attention difficulty, hyperactivity and impulsiveness. AD/HD often begins during childhood but can also affect adults and can contribute to low self-esteem, troubled relationships and difficulty at school or work. The standards for treatment of ADD and ADHD are behavioral therapy and medication.

BIPOLAR DISORDER

Also called Manic Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder is associated with episodes of severe mood swings that range from manic highs (excitement, euphoria, high energy, reduced need for sleep, loss of touch with reality) to depressive lows (depression, hopelessness, low energy, low motivation, loss of interest). Bipolar Disorder presents differently in every patient, but left untreated, symptoms can worsen drastically, possibly leading to suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Treatment is usually lifelong and involves a combination of psychotherapy and medications to help stabilize mood and treat depression.

TRAUMA (PTSD, EMOTIONAL SHOCK, ACUTE STRESS)

Trauma is a life changing event that can cause difficulty in all areas of a person’s life. Our clinical professionals are trained to help restore a sense of control and lessen the powerful hold of trauma.

OTHER MENTAL DISORDERS

EATING DISORDERS (ANOREXIA, BULIMIA,
BINGE EATING)

Eating Disorders are conditions that cause the sufferer to have difficulty seeing themselves clearly, which results in obsession with food, body weight and shape, and leads them to take on unhealthy eating habits that can be deadly. At Mindfulness we treat various types of eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa (extremely restricted eating, emaciation, intense fear of gaining weight), Bulimia Nervosa (binging followed by purging by forced vomiting, laxatives, fasting, excessive exercising), and Binge-Eating Disorder (binging on unusually large amounts of food until becoming uncomfortably full).

LEARNING DIFFERENCES

At Mindfulness Holistic Wellness & Healing, we work with children and adults who suffer from learning differences which cause them to struggle to keep up with their peers and coworkers, not due to lack of intelligence but rather due to a disability that complicates their ability to comprehend and communicate information. Common Learning Differences include Dyslexia, Dysgraphia (inability to translate thoughts into writing), Development Coordination Disorder, Dyscalculia (mathematics and calculations disorders), ADD, Neurological Disorders and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (such as Autism).

HEALING TOUCH

Healing touch is a gentle complementary-based approach to healing that can assist bringing a body to its natural ability to heal. The healing touch practitioner uses a gentle or near body touch to clear, balance and energize the human energy system, thus providing the opportunity for the client and practitioner to together create a healing plan.

HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is guided hypnosis resulting in a trance-like state with heightened concentration and focus attained with the help of a therapist often done using mental images and verbal repetition. During hypnosis, the patient is more open to suggestion which can help him or her gain control over undesired behaviors and better cope with pain or anxiety. Hypnotherapy is often used along with other forms of psychological or medical treatment for pain control, hot flashes, behavior change, grief and loss, sleep disorders, phobias and mental health conditions.

DIETITIAN SERVICES

Dietitian services involve providing non-invasive treatment for safe, sustainable nutrition principles and wellness. Our holistic approach helps individuals implement the lifestyle changes necessary to reach their personal goals. In addition to teaching important nutrition principles, we can help clients identify emotional blocks, behaviors, and coping strategies that are driving poor health habits, help process emotions and guide them down a path of lasting change.

DUI CLASSES (WV DUI SAFETY
& TREATMENT PROGRAM)

A state program designed to assist those individuals charged with a DUI to regain their driving privileges. Offering educational group therapy as well as individual therapy. Our DUI classes will officially begin with intake on April 10th. We are accepting scheduling at this time.

INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PLAN
(IEP) & 504 PLAN CONSULTATION

IEP and 504 plans are plans or programs that ensure school age children with learning difficulties receive specialized instruction and services within the school system. Our specialist can consult with the family to help understand the process and develop a positive working relationship with school personnel.

LIGHT THERAPY

Studies show that white light therapy (also called phototherapy) is used to alleviate many health conditions such as: seasonal affective disorder (SAD), sleep disorders (insomnia), mild to moderate skin conditions (acne, Rosacea), joint pain, and depression. It mimics natural outdoor light that we need every day.

Indoor tanning is the perfect way to get your daily Vitamin D when the sun is unavailable. Studies have proven it encourages the body to produce more Vitamin D without medications. Indoor tanning is linked to helping and improving skin conditions (psoriasis, eczema), oil production, and hormonal balance.

Infrared therapy uses invisible rays to gently heal, soothe, stimulate and detox your body, as well as mind to provide therapeutic benefits. It can enhance blood circulation, reduce pain, regulate sleep, strengthens cardiovascular system, revitalizes skin cells, relieves fibromyalgia pain, and can treat chronic pain.

ABA THERAPY

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a type of therapy that focuses on improving specific behaviors, such as social skills, communication, reading, and academics as well as adaptive learning skills, such as fine motor dexterity, hygiene, grooming, domestic capabilities, punctuality, and job competence.

IOP (INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM) & SUD (SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER)

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a form of substance abuse rehabilitation in which people visit our facility 3-days a week for a few hours at a time. An IOP is more time-intensive than most standard outpatient programs. IOP services include individual counseling for the treatment of addiction, medication management, case management, group therapy, mental health screenings and life coaching. You will learn coping skills through Therapeutic Art and Therapeutic Yoga during your treatment times.No matter what you are experiencing, treatments and resources are available.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps clients with SUD to develop more balanced and helpful thoughts about themselves, others, and the future. It can help manage the urge to drink or use drugs, refuse opportunities to use substances, use a problem-solving approach to deal with substance use, and achieve personal goals.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) helps clients with SUD by focusing on conversations between the client and their provider to detect and strengthen personal motivations for change. This therapy looks at the reasons behind your desire to make a change and the potential benefits of that change.

Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) is a version of MI that focuses specifically on changing alcohol and/or substance use.

 

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Anger Management is to reduce both your emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that anger causes. You will learn to control your reactions to people, places and things that may cause you to feel anger.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA

Medical Marijuana is used to relieve or alleviate certain symptoms, make you feel better, and improve your quality of life when battling certain conditions or medical diagnosis. You must obtain a recommendation from an approved Medical Doctor in order to purchase medical marijuana from a dispensary.

LIFE COACHING

Life Coaching improves confidence and self-esteem, increases life satisfaction and happiness levels, lowers stress levels and helps you develop a more peaceful mind. In turn, this can increase energy, productivity, and bring passion and focus to life’s endeavors and relationships.

KETAMINE THERAPY

Ketamine Therapy for the treatment of depression in adults who have tried other antidepressant medicines but have not benefited from them (treatment-resistant depression). Ketamine Nasal Spray cuts depression symptoms in 24 hours and is approved by the FDA.

BOTOX AND DERMAL FILLERS

Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. However they have been proven effective for use against chronic migraine pain as well.
